LegalDirect also participated in the Youca day

An ordinary day for the lawyers of LegalDirect, but a unique experience for me. At 9:30 am I am standing in front of the door of the law firm. For one day I am one of them.

After a short tour of the building I am quickly assigned my own desk. Before I can start my legal tasks, we leave for the Palace of Justice. Not the Royal Palace, but the impressive Palace of Justice.

Before we enter the nineteenth-century building, we visit the Commercial Court and the Court of First Instance in Brussels. In each courtroom we enter, there is a calm atmosphere; lawyers in their black robes discuss the cases or take notes. After we have visited a number of rooms, we walk to the Palace of Justice. The splendor of the classical Greco-Roman architecture is breathtaking. The rooms are still in their original state, which gives the whole a special appearance.

The endless corridors reveal many surprises: courtrooms, a small shop and even a lawyers' café. Back at the office, we enjoy lunch together, after which I start working on a professional conclusion. "Educational" seems an understatement; it was truly an extraordinary experience. It was as if I was getting a glimpse into the daily life of a lawyer. It creates a feeling that I have to come back tomorrow, and for a moment I forget that I am still a high school student.
